Rebuilding carbs, need some advice!
« on: March 04, 2019, 10:06:12 PM »
First job I want to get sorted is the carbs. This is the set that came with the bike, from what I can see right off the bat there are a few missing bits, a couple of nuts, throttle return spring and the bottom connector for the throttle return spring, I cannot seem to find a name for the damn thing or where to buy one??

Apart from being filthy the carbs look good, took the bottoms off and looks clean inside, I'm still debating a full rebuild. I guess it will come down to if i used a bread box or velocity stacks and therefore might need to use different jets.*

In regards to the above set of carbs, I'm planning on taking of the mount and giving then a good clean. I might paint the bowls and round tops black, im not sure yet.

What would be the best way to clean the crap off, just degreease and a stiff brush?

They should clean up quite easily with degreaser and a bit of metal polish... the bowls usually come up very bright with a bit of a polish.. no point going mad with the polishing though, as they will soon tarnish and settle back down to a standard greyish look. With some fresh rubber boots and bright hose clips they will look great.

Thanks, just waiting on a few parts before breakdown and clean!
