CB 750 ENGINE NUMBER?

Hi everybody

I am just about to buy a cb 750 k6.which is fitted with what i think is an earlier engine ,the engine number is B750GE  1005047 Is this an early sandcast engine,what year would it be,the other question is do i look for a k6 engine,or do i keep this engine.it needs another head as there is fin damage.

I could be wrong but that sounds like a 750 f2 engine number which means its around  76-78 vintage as you probably know already.

According to Axl's excellent website ( http://www.satanicmechanic.org/enginemods.shtml ), it does indeed look like an early engine number.

There has been much debate about the "GE" suffix as our friends in the US didn't get these. The general consensus seems to be that they were "General Export" models.

Check Axl's list of engine mods to see if they match yours.

Completely off the subject sticks can you tell me if your Daytona has a rev counter fitted?  My father in law has one that hasn't and he thinks it should have. It was claimed to be a US export model but it looks a hotch potch to me.

YES MY DAYTONA HAS THE REV COUNTER FITTED,AS THEY SHOULD HAVE ,THE COUNTER DRIVE IS ON THE LEFT HAND SIDE CRANKCASE JUST BELOW THE EXHAUST,DRIVEN BY THE EXHAUST CAMSHAFT,ENGINE SHOULD BE STAMPED T100T FOR THE UK MODELS AND T100R FOR USA BIKES.
