PLEASE HELP ME MAKE A DECISION

HI AGAIN
Thanks for the info regarding the engine numbers,i have now got a big decision to make,i have found out that the engine in the k6 i am interested in buying is in fact a 78 f2 engine,that has been stripped of the black paint,it runs well no smoke,it has a new tank,new exhaust,new panels,new shocks,mudguards,all panels and tank resprayed to a high standard,what do you cb owners think i should do,the dealer wants

That's a lot of dosh for a 30 year old bike.  Mind you, if it really is as nice as you say...

Take a look on eBay and see how much these go for. Original (unrestored) K0/K1/K2s go for the most ~up to 3500.

The F2 engine was more powerful but more fragile (as I'm sure you know).

Is it an F2 engine or just the cases? Not worth that much for a hoge podge with no written history

I agree with brianj its not worth that much for a hotch potch even if it is a looker. My f2 was almost completely original apart from the exhaust and it was only a grand. That was a private sale about a year ago.

Sounds very expensive.

I think for that money I would be wanting an immaculate machine with all the correct bits present and lots of history.

Ditto, plus if something should go wrong with the F2 like a dropped valve (been there) they are as rare as the proverbial Rocking horse Sh%t, I prefer the earlier engine
