Swing arm bush fitting

Hi All,
I'm just about to fit some new bushes into a powder coated K1 swing arm, they are a very tight fit , any tips on getting them in?  I've cleaned the swing arm of any excess powder coat ,I have bronze bushes and they're in the freezer at the minute, not sure if I should warm the swing arm up in case it mucks up the coating?

Just as your doing Mick, freeze the bushes and tap them in. I used a bit if 4 x 2 timber laid flat on the collar and used a hammer to tap them in. Worked a treat for me and mine were a very tight fit as well.

Cheers Julie, thanks for the reply, it gave me the confidence to 'tap' the bushes in, more like 'whack' in my case! With a lump hammer!    They're in though!

Ha, yes I remember being pretty brutal getting the bronze bushes in on mine, the last couple of mm didn’t want to go but getting brutal fixed it 👍

Like you I cleaned out the bore of the swinging arm and the bushes went in eventually but I found that the inner bore had contracted and I needed to carefully ream them to size before I could get the pivot pin to slide in.

Well I got the bushes in OK but the swing arm was binding in the frame because the collar didn't protrude past the bushes so I had to file some of the outer face of the bushes down until the collar  stuck out a bit more! I cleaned out the bore of the swing arm but not the outer edge, think that was where my problem was!  Seems to be ok now
