IOM TT 1969.....UK CB750/4 K0
« on: September 30, 2019, 06:12:37 PM »
Just seen this on another site.

''IOM TT in 1969, Honda had a display on Nobles park to unveil several new machines, I think they were hoping for big things for something called the CB750 😏".

The lad on the bike I assume is who has just posted the pic....but he's 50 years older now 😀😀😀

Notice, no clocks fitted and high US spec handlebars. I'm not sure if the cut edge front mud guard was standard ( my poor product knowledge) but notice how no holes visible for the fitting of the front number plate
Edit....im saying UK spec because of the black tail light unit.

Edit.....for those interested I have just posted page on FB where i saw this pic.

Interesting. That must be one of the prototypes?

It's not one of the prototypes......if you look carefully it has a rubber top brake hose, it also has metal shrouded plug caps, a finned oil filter housing, horn on the right side and as mentioned, the UK rear light unit.....it certainly looks like a UK bike, all the first ones got the high handlebars....... it also has the later style Honda mirrors, not the 'nutted' version usually fitted to early CB750s.

If it's a UK bike it can't be June 1969 though because UK versions didn't exist then.

The first UK market bike was manufactured on the 22nd October 1969 (fifty years old this month) and was on the road in the UK in January 1970, so my guess is, he is one year out and it's the 1970 TT.   I wonder why the clocks were missing..

In the bottom right hand corner is another bike with a metal shrouded fork leg in what looks like brown....I don't know the range well enough, but that might date it.

Mick.

;) i love seeing the old pics just wished id taken em when i had my old bikes years ago, keep digging out them old bike pics
 thanks for posting  8)
BTW i toally agree with kettle i would say the bike probably is a uk cb750 k0 or even  a continental model i also noticed the parking light in the headlamp so i dont think its a yankee bike it would be nice to know the reg of that bike and i would not be surprised if it was brought in from europe as we all know we never got them off HONDA until 1970
