What is this?

Tidying the workshop after the rebuild and found this part and I can't see where it goes or what it's for  - any ideas?

Could be a bracket for an exhaust. Next time show it with a centimeter scale nearby.

Yes I agree, it looks like an exhaust hanger bracket.

I don't recognise that on a 500,


 agreed it looks like an exhaust hanger,its nothing like the 4 pipe hangers.
it seems to have a cable guide ,

 some idea of size would help

Its not, cant see properly but rh rear engine mount maybe from a 550

Not an engine mount - I have been riding the bike so I would have noticed that.

Looks like a seat hinge? Although the photo isn’t too clear, looks like the bottom edge is rolled to accept a hinge pin....??

I have looked through all the photos of the bike when I got it and found this - looks like the part but can't see why it's there or what its for - very strange!

Whatever it is it wasnt on a 500 or 550 that left the factory
