Frame numbers

Morning all. Is there a definitive list of F2 frame numbers and production dates? I cannot find any link that works.

I am trying to work out the production date of my F2 which was registered in December 1979, but seems to have an earlier frame number; CB750G1013379.

Any assistance and direction welcome.

If its a USA import it will have the date on the VIN plate. If its a 1st registered UK bike... it won't have the date on the VIN plate. Not sure but I don't think any European models have date on VIN plate.

I was looking at the 'pva' number on the label.  it may be a coincidence but mine is a 77 (reg78) and the number starts 77 - not thsat I know whet the 'pva' number is supposed to denote!!

I would have thought it was one of the last actually built sometime 78 a F3 a term not often used as they were always just referred  to as F2.  Cb750g numbers were used on non USA frames. No doubt sold cheap in the day to clear as the dohc was also out at that time.
To the best of my belief. I could well be wrong.

Well, I wonder what PVA is 🤔🤔🤔I have just looked at one of my bikes, the 400/4 and that has a PVA No. on the VIN tag of 65.228 That rules out it being anything to do with date of manufacture as mine was one of the last ever manufactured and is a 1977. I wonder if it is some reference to type approval or homologation compliance for the UK market?

It’s a SOHC but no frame label on the head tube,  just the stamped VIN. From looking around, it seems to have a lower frame number than some bikes on ‘T’ plates.

So it may just be a case of that bike being in stock in a dealership unsold for a long time and then registered. Not unusual, as Moorey explained, to have one of these models in stock, unsold, then sold at a give away price and late registered. That's if its a 1st registered UK bike obviously, if it was sold in mainland Europe it could be for another reason I suppose.

I had read somewhere that the g was used on non USA. It could come from mainland Europe I suppose it would depend on the rest of its specs, but I do know they did struggle to clear the last ones as they were just too long in the tooth back then everybody want dohc.
