Hi All , Have a 500-4 thats been stripped and in the loft , well several lofts since 1986 and just got the crankcases down to start looking at rebuilding.

So will be looking for ideas and maybe picking a few brains along the way.

Currently riding an X11 on nice days, that I've owned from new.

Many thanks for having me on the forum. John

Welcome to the mad world of the SOHC, have built a shed load of 500/4's over the years. Ask loads of questions and enjoy your build  ;)

Welcome to the forum and have fun. You don't see that many X11s about. A pity in my mind they didn't make them full power.  ;)

Thanks for the replies All , the rebuild probably wont get fully started until the summer , I have plans to build a new workshop first , but my mind is whirring over & over as to what parts ill need and obviously availability , been scouring David Silver Spares and CMSL , not sure if there are any other suppliers out there ?.

FYI Moorey the X11 has a full Acro with K&N and puts out 144 bhp at the wheel, It also has a front end rear wheel and brakes from a 2004 CBR1000rr with a Nitron rear shock !

Welcome to the forum. Post plenty of photos of the build. If you are not starting the build until summer it gives you time to send your parts off for chrome plate asap as in my experience they take the longest!

Many thanks for the replies and advice all , Been reading Nurse Julies rebuild with interest.

Unfortunately Dave I don't have any of the chrome parts , I acquired the bike from a friend who had rode it home and stripped it after he brought it due to an oil leak, and then after a few months couldn't be bothered and asked me to take it up the rubbish tip as I had a trailer , So I took it home ! , the chrome parts were all chopped about and the exhaust was a cheep nasty 4 into 1 so it all got thrown !
