1978 SOHC F2 Engine casings
« on: April 21, 2009, 08:38:42 PM »
Hi I am doing a rebuild (my first) of a 1978 F2 SOHC engine and I've come across a bit of a disaster. When I dismantled the engine and had the crankcase cleaned up it was clear that casing is damaged around where the kick start spindle is located. Basically this section of the casing is broken off.

Anyone have any ideas? Is there anywhere I can get a new (or secondhand) crankcase and do I have to replace all of the engine casing or can I match a bottom end of a crankcase from engine to the top end of another crankcase. Or is there anyone who does repairs to crankcases (if that's possible even).

I would appreciate any help!!

might be cheaper to find a decent engine or a good set of casings , remember though that you will need both casings as they are paired, ;) cheers Mick.

It may be an expensive way to go but I have a cb750 f2 with the engine out due to a cam failure. I have purchased a new(secondhand) cam but am finding it diffcult to build any enthusiasm for the job.
Go on you know you want to
