Lovely torquey engine. They are a bit top heavy particularly with a full tank.
The only major problem, as has been raised, with the 1st gen ones, with the detachable plate above, onboard of the clutch housing, is the starter sprag clutch which if it has not been done can be a problem, loud clunk when trying to start the engine initially but will then just fail. Was a recognised manufacturing/design issue that Triumph assisted with for a number of years on a case by case basis. Not a difficult job to do if you are a handy mechanic, see link,

So you need to check that it has been done or that there are no clunks and bangs with repeated starts. Again as has been indicated, problem is exacerbated with a low battery charge.
