The Flying Dutchman - café racer.
« on: April 11, 2020, 09:58:19 PM »
The past year I have been building something for myself. Something a bit extraordinary. Maybe because a lot of what I see in my shop is original. So i thought... what if..

I finished the build last year. 29 September and I rode it to the distinguished gentleman  meeting. But I still had some fine-tuning to do which I finally did last Thursday...

The paint work is stunning.

Is it a 500.or550

I kept most parts original. Only small things like air filter steering and attachments are not Honda. And of course: rims...

The flying Dutchman could be red white blue... but the kings house is of Oranje - orange. So a heavy flake seemed quite in place..

It's not exactly to my taste..... but I won't knock it for that. It's one mans vision of what he wants, and the world would be a dull place indeed if everyone had bikes that looked the same.

There are some really nice touches on there that I have not seen elsewhere. Especially the tail end, which is so much more than just a hoop. The hoop section follows hte same angle as the sloping rear frame section, and the inspired little extension in thin tube to make a tail unit...that isn't a tail unit... but instead an outline of one.

Would I want to own it...honestly...no.

Can I admire the workmanship, the effort and the faultless finish. Hell yes.
