Broken cam chain guide
« on: April 12, 2020, 05:45:53 PM »
Thought the bike was rattling a bit more than usual and on inspection I found the broken cam chain front guide, the adjuster seems to work as it should and I can't see any other problem. Anyone of you guys seen this before? wear and tear or what might have caused it?

I think you will find thar the grooves in the cyĺinder are worn (those pins have no rubber left) which has allowed it to rattle up and down thus break.

I have seen it before but not often, could be it was assembled worn by a PO

Yes it was fitted as shown when I serviced the the head - I had no idea that the pins should have rubber on them, I take it the new one should have the rubbers which should cure the problem?

The rubbers are not seperate but the whole assembly is covered. You need to make sure that the "pins" fit tightly into the machined recesses
