CB550 K3 tank emblems

Just noticed that as well as being in poor nick / bent I have mismatched tank emblems

Anyone know where to get a decent set of 390 emblems ... even the repos I've seen aren't correct as they have screw holes - and they don't seem to offer gold lettering .... the latter not so much an issue as I suppose I could spray them

Well got them both off

It would seem both are original 390 emblems but for some reason one side has had the letters polished so all the gold cones off ......

The shame is the right undamaged one is the silver letters - bugger

On a side note can the retaining clips still be purchased ?

Hi,

I had the same problems, I cleaned my emblems down, resprayed them gold all over and then used fine brush to do in between the letters. I bought new retaining clips from DS, no87311516000 or 87311634600.
I then fitted the emblems bending them very carefully as I pressed them home.

I have seen 390's tank badges in gold and silver from Honda. The right one has a upwards sweep to it.

Interesting - one is def silver

I’ve straightened / sprayed the damaged left one and tbh it looks ok

So really I need to find a gold good right side

Difference in colour may be that one colour was used for a certain colour tank or a certain market, like the protect nature stickers which came in black and white depending on tank colour.

It may be - gold looks the best and matches the side panel etc - so the hunt is on !!
