Which oil
« on: May 04, 2020, 04:04:47 PM »
Hi
CB 550 four just finishing a full engine rebuild, which oil should I use.
Mineral , semi synthetic or fully synthetic.
I have read that fully synthetic damages the clutch ?

Mineral to run in.

After. The most you need is semi synthetic

Tesco 10w40 diesel mineral oil, sometimes in store sometimes in garage

Just checked 15w40 is cheaper

That says running in oil so dont know if i would trust it full time but just putting 10w40 mineral engine oil into google brings up loads, do read specs as some synthetics sneak in!

Good for the 1st 500 miles then filter change and oil change to your preferred choice was my thought after a full rebuild.

When you do not intend to ride you bike below 0o C, you might as well opt for a 15W-40.

All motorfactors SHOULD stock mineral oil, just dont tell them its for a motorcycle as a lot get twitchy about selling the wrong thing and getting sued.

Not talking halfrauds here but proper motor factors
