Clocks / Instrument Repairs?

My shiny new CB900FZ is missing the trip reset button from the speedo.

Where do you guys go for instrument repairs.

This is something (together with paint) that I'm quite happy to give to a professional!

Doesnt the speedo assembly come out of the clock assembly seperate Steve? and i think the trip was was a seperate spare originaly

If the CB900 instruments are basically the same as the CB750 ones I have a trip reset knob, it's the type secured by a tiny crosshead screw. There are other alternatives if it does not matter too much that it's not original, I've re-machined radio knobs in the past. Then there's tube caps, toothpaste ones are white but some products have back ones. Certainly ideal for a 400f ones that I get on a regular basis to restore, even more so following a 400f feature in the May Classic Motorcycle Magazine. As for painting, satin black I assume, it's better that they are taken apart for re-paint but if they are not too bad it can be done assembled. A decent job can be made with a rattle can. The best can to use comes from Halfords, seems to provide a better Finnish.

I read the feature in classic motorcycle mechanics last year, have looked at the May 2008 edition and was unable to find it...have I missed the page or is the feature in another month?
Do you have a web site? as I would like my CB750 clocks refurbished after the summer

Alan, it's on page 30 of the May 2008 edition of Classic Motorcycle Mechanics within a 400f rebuild feature. I just restored the instruments and recived a mention.

Thanks for the reply Peter, Steve is correct that the mention is in the May 2009 edition
(CB 400F) rebuild. I had seen a feature last year of someone that re-builds clocks...must trawl though passed issues to find the article.

May not help. but I have a receipt from the PO of my K1. Guages fully restored by Bucks Vintage Guage Restoration in Northridge USA, but at a fee of $851 including shipping :o
They do look great

I've seen a pair that Bucks restored and they are good. $851 dollars at todays rates is over
