flasher unit

have bought cb750 K2 which has 3 pin flasher unit all  for that year have 2 SteveD has helpfully said 3rd is earth and will work ok without it, but would like to know why it has 3 to start with seems to have a few non standard parts, beginning to wonder what year it is or is it a bits and pieces bike any help appreciated.

The loom is built to take all the parts required in different countries. UK is more strict on speeds of indicator flash so used an electronic (and way more expensive flasher) to pass the then equivalent of Type Approval. A cheap thermal 2 prong works just as well with the correct bulbs and a good battery
