Ebay prices!!!!
« on: June 24, 2020, 03:51:29 PM »
I've been looking at CD175 parts, does this stuff actually get bought at these prices?

Side panel badges £195 for a pair.

https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Honda-CD175-Sidepanel-Badges/283856248482?hash=item4217269ea2:g:eAQAAOSwlepeoKM4

Gasket set £1028, it does say "no stock", do they put a ridiculous price as its out of stock? why not just not list it?

https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/New-Honda-Cd175-Cd-175-Full-Complete-Gasket-Set-1971-1978/230135198401?epid=1488190122&hash=item35952072c1:g:ZkYAAOxyJ8ZRh2SM

Rough old side panel (with badge 8)) £75 + £6 postage

https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Honda-Cd175-CD175K-A4-A5-AK3-Side-Panel-And-Badge/233625011226?hash=item366522c41a:g:bvkAAOSw5Bde7ir-

I have collected a few parts over the years to restore my CD175's I may just ride them as is wiped down with an oily rag, sell my spares and live a life of luxury.

Brand new original silencers and side panel badges for sale, offers ;D

I think prices of old bikes and parts have gone up during the covid lockdown, too many idle hands wondering around on the keyboard.
Regarding the ridiculous price of the gasket set, I have seen this done several times before when the seller has "no stock". I'm not sure why they don't just take the advert down and pop a new one up when they have stock,  but presumably there are implications if they did that.

They are expensive because the CD!75 was very rare. Thats why we both have one. ;) ;)
Talking about the 175 my 6v battery has finally given up the ghost and the ridiculous price of a new standard battery and the bollocks about buying on tinternet i have replaced mine with a  6v Lucas lead acid  as used on burglar alarms etc. Not a bad fit just needs a bit more packing and as there is no need for heavy connections as there is no starter motor. Just make a spade adaptoprs. Works a treat and only £16 against nearly £40.

One less carb and a ginormous 6v battery with a pressed steel frame, course they were better. Oh and different crank and cam

Really different crank?? I had a CD and assumed I knew a fair bit about them. Obviously not! Always wished I had the CB.
One day I'll have the time to restore it, not just talk and dream....

That is an interesting fact I didn't know! Presumably the CB was 360° and the CD 180°?

All CD 175's and CB175s were Type " 360° cranks and the cranks are interchangeable. It was the CB250/350K and CB72 that were 180°  Type1 cranks BUT there were JDM versions of those models that were 360° namely  The CD250 JDM and the CBM72

the thing about eBay is that items find their natural price on the day of the sale.

If an item sells then the price was right. If it doesn't then the price was wrong and the seller needs to think again.

I had a CB175 too, I put a Devil exhaust on it, wow what a great noise, just the two CD's now. My brother had a CB200. We loved the little twins.

I don't get the chain prices, there must be some reason like retaining the listing when out of stock, rather than having to make out a whole new listing.

I can't imagine why anyone would pay £999.95 for a chain and sprocket set.

Money laundering scam perhaps?
Now where did I put that 10mm socket?

When an item sells out and the Seller has no stock......and it may be some time until they have more stock, the price shoots up to a silly figure.....I don't know it it's automatic or the Seller does it manually.

It does this so that the Seller doesn't have to pull the advert and have to redo it later when he holds more stock........and and we all know how long it takes to put something onto E Bay !

I asked the question of a Seller some years ago and that's what he told me anyway.
