CB750K6 restoration project. Disc cover fowls on disc
« on: July 05, 2020, 01:12:03 PM »
Hi. Hoping someone can help me. I'm at the very end of a restoration project on a K6 and tried to fit the disc cover - but it fowls on the disc. The disc appears to be the right size as it just reaches the top of the pads. I'm wondering if I have a pair of CB 400 lower fork sections - which could have the mounting brackets for the cover in a slightly different place?  Or am I missing something easy?  Everything else appears to line up / bolt on perfectly.

It should go on the large bolt at the lower end of the pivot pin

Yes - that's where I'm trying to fix it. The more I look at it the more I'm thinking I've got 400 forks on it. Does anyone have a measurement from the center of the front axle to the point where the rubber gator starts on the the LHS lower fork section?  That would be really helpful. Thanks. Phil

Is there a caliper mounting on the other slider?

Yes there is. It came with a twin disc conversion - I've left the RHS disc off. So I guess it must be a set of 750 forks. Maybe the disc is non standard and diameter slightly too large? Anyone know what the diameter of a standard disc is? Thanks again. Phil

Not off hand. Are you sure the cover is off a 750?

Yes. Bought from CMSNL. There was no cover on when I bought it though. I'll check the disc diameter. That's likely to be the problem. Cheers. Phil
