Front offside footrest

OK, I know that they are supposed to fold up to use the kick-starter, but mine flops about like a todger in a top hat!
The slightest snag on trouser or boot and it folds up only to be discovered when I try to rest my foot on it - oh what fun.
It has the circular flat spring installed but this only seems to lightly hold it up and has no tension to hold it down.
I presume it's knackered as I can re-shape it with finger pressure. Does anybody know if replacement springs are available?

Thanks Bryan,  I've had a look but CMSNL have them as unavailable. I had a search by the part number and no luck so far - just two other sources and both have it as discontinued.

One thing, looking at the picture on CMSNL, it shows a double leaf construction:

I only have the 'inner' part so I guess that's why it's so weak.

It's a UK 1977 model by the way, but it seems to be a standard part across all markets.

I seems you've sorted this already, but FWIW... one of my digital parts books says it's part # 50620-377-000.

It's a UK 1977 model by the way, but it seems to be a standard part across all markets.

My USA '77 model doesn't use this part, as the forward foot positioning moves the footrest out of the way of the kick start lever...

That's strange - my very early (75) ex Florida 400/4, which I sold recently had the same arrangement, so does my 76 UK 400/4.

Not sure what you mean - and which "same" arrangement you're commenting on... As far as I know, it's just the '77 USA/Canada models that have the higher bars (with longer cables) and the forward foot pegs...

I thought the forward peg positions were on the 350f.

'Same arrangement' as in the use of the double leaf spring on my ex Florida bike - very early, 500ish frame number and also my UK 76 bike.  There is a peg on the frame which locates the hanger - I suppose my Florida could have been 'got at' before I bought it - but it appeared unmolested when I bought it.  They would have had to change brake pedal, gear lever, bars, cables &c.  Not sure a forward rest/ long brake pedal would clear the clutch casing either - the 350 is different.
My 350/4 does indeed have forward rests and higher, wider bars - more comfy for me and I can see through the mirrors!!

It is just as you say, Ian - Honda changed the brake pedal, gear lever, bars, cables, upper brake line, and possibly handlebar switch wiring.  All for just the USA/Canada 400's, and just for 1977.

I wonder how different the 350 high bars - and clutch cable - are from my 400's?  According to CMSNL's "fits models" database, they're not compatible... but perhaps more research is in order...

I was not aware that any 400s had high bars and forward pegs - I much prefer riding my 350/4 for those reasons.  The only 400/4 I have left now is a minter that I've almost finished so I don't think I should alter that one.
