1976 550 number plate
« on: July 18, 2020, 04:23:32 PM »
Can anyone tell me what style of number plate would have been fitted on a bike registered in 1976.
Would it have been a pressed aluminium or plastic.
Thanks in advance

All mine of that era were plastic, pre 1973 bikes (and cars) could have the black silver type back then, but I believe you can now fit them to any vehicle registered as Historic, i.e more than 40 years old.
Now where did I put that 10mm socket?

All our 76's are pressed metal yellow / Black. It was at the change over era where perspex was just coming in and dealers had the equipment to make their own plates up in perspex on site. So 76 could be either perspex or pressed metal yellow / black.
As said above, once you have registered it as Historic, you can  display black / silver if you wish.
