cb750k2 year colors
« on: August 06, 2020, 04:42:59 PM »
i just got a month ago 1975 cb750k2

i have been researching the different colors for the different years. but the only reliable information i can find is from the k0 to k6 us models.

as you know in many parts of the world the k2 model was sold until 1975.

like my bike that has a k2 frame number with a k5 engine number.

what would be the original colors be?  1972 or 1975?

also in my case i would think that i would have to paint my bike on 1975 colors

if i guide myself with us bikes it would be either

1972  Flake Sunrise Orange, Candy Gold, Brier Brown Metallic

or

1975  candy gold, candy saphire blue, flake apricot red, glory brown metallic, planet blue metallic

what where the colors in the uk for this years?

Why do you say your K2 has a K5 engine number 🤔. Is your bike an original 1st registered UK model or is it a USA spec bike, and what year was it manufactured in/ registered in?.
The UK K2's were available in only a very few colours and most of the colours you mention are not UK model colours.

mine is a south american bike from colombia.

frame number is cb750-2104309

and engine number cb750e-2423247

it think it came originaly like this as it would have been extremely expensive to get a new engine registered here in colombia.

the registration card claims that it was registered in 1976 and comes with the color "red" written down so no help there.

i believe this is an export model but there's no information about this models anywhere....

i can't guide myself through us bikes, there the engines matched the years released.

i thought the closest i can guide myself with, are with UK bikes as i read in some magazines that you guys got the cb750k2 al the way to 1975.

i'm trying to determine what were the correct colors for my bike.

not the exact color it came with originaly, just the various options that i would have. in order to restore it.

A UK K2 1975 VIN should start with 21****** and the UK only had :

Candy Custom Gold
Candy Ruby Red
Planet Blue Metallic  ;)

Yes, we had K2's into 1975 in UK and then the K6 came out here. In the meantime, the USA had K2, K3, K4 and K5, then the K6. Yours could have originated from any country to be honest but the colour would be relevant to the VIN, being a K2 and not the engine number. If yours is a red K2, it would most probably have been Candy Ruby Red.

thanks....

two questions: is this how bikes were released on the UK? where can i find info on this?

i mean for example:  a 1973 k2 had 1972 frame with a 1973 engine
a 1974 k2 had 1972 frame with 1974 engine?

also my bike has the unicorn style top tree and no safety unit.....  by this logic: all uk bikes to 1975 must have originally come with this unicorn style top tree? and no uk bikes came with the  safety unit either ?

so what would be an example of engine code and frame code in the uk for a 1975 k2?

I Have all information on the UK K2 as i specialise in the UK K2.

Honda used up all the 20****** VIN numbers and went on to 21******. They know this was going to happen and that is why the USA K3 VIN is 22*****

All K2's came with the unicorn top yoke.

The K2 was also sold in France, Germany, Spain, Italy and many more countries until 1975

Your Vin is a match to your engine number for the above countries including the UK  ;)

great, so this means that the UK from 1972 to 1975 only got the choice of this three colors?

Candy Custom Gold
Candy Ruby Red
Planet Blue Metallic

that's it?
