need a seal part no

difficult to pin this down in words,

 steve d  you dont happen to have parts list photo for the front spindle do you ,

 best i can explain is where the chrome cover sits speedo side , under that chrome cover there is part which splits into 2, round the part that pushes out is a rubber seal, it looks like a ver small rubber band

nearest pic i could find , part 8, the middle section pushes out and there is a seal round the part that comes out, only gives part no for whole item, only need the seal ... anyone ?

Silvers can normally find these bits over the phone without part numbers, might do the trick. Ps did you get the bearing retainer out in the end?
Got a 500/4 with rust and a sidecar and loadsa bits. nice and original and been round the clock

Yes its all stipped , have one side of bearing back in , had to chop it out in the end , still  got to do back wheel ,  big learning curve for me this but getting there

The only seal I know of is part of the speedo drive.

bryan on that part no  8 there is a section that pushes out, round that part there is like a band will try and get a pic up

I don't see why not - there's no oil pressure behind it is there?

That was a rhetorical question Mike...    ;D

There is no pressure - it's just a grease seal for the front wheel.

Oh right steve, will make something to get this sealed up , just got back to change bearings and then wheels can go back on

That speedo drive plate is totaly different to ANYTHING i have seen before!! It ought to be one steel piece or how will it drive the gearbox?
