Comstar wheel question

Curiosity question really,
I have seen a few later Hondas with Comstar wheels and wondered if they can be refurbished/rebuilt like their spoked equivelants.

Bit of a pain really.

The "spokes" are steel and the rims alloy. They are riveted together.

I understand that you cannot take them apart.

Honda say that they cannot be dissasembled, but back in the 70's there was a firm that made alloy discs with holes in to dolt on instead of the steel spokes then you could lace a "standard" rim on. This worked out about 80% of the cost of a new comstar so was only just about worth it

Thanks for the info. I was looking at a few later Hondas and the thought just struck me as the wheels do really add or detract from a nice bike.

Hagon apparently offer a repair service for Comstar wheels....

When I had Comstars on my 750F2 I was told that the steel 'spokes' would interact with the alloy rim because of eletrolytic corrosion.The little black 'Honda' covers didn't help things as the mess was hidden out of sight.
