Key blanks
« on: October 15, 2009, 11:21:50 AM »
Hi does anyone know where I can buy a replacement key for my 500K1 which will match the original, either the cut key or just a blank?

Many thanks,

Andy

My local key cutting service found that a padlock key blank will fit but not look very original, silvers I daresay would do a pattern blank - not sure if an original looking key would be available but if looks is uninportant then a padlock blank is very easy to get
Got a 500/4 with rust and a sidecar and loadsa bits. nice and original and been round the clock

Take the number into any respectable bike shop and they should have an account with a firm that makes keys to number, cant remember the  name sorry but they wont deal direct with public anyway, might be an idea to go armed with V5 and/or lock to prove its yours

Thanks for the tips, Dave Silver seems to sell the later style keys but I'll only buy one as a last resort.

Basildon locksmiths do/did keys to number and although it was a few years ago did deal with me direct - not thru my local bike dealer who helpfully lost my key for me ::)
