Exhaust downpipes/manifold

Hi

Has anyone had an exhause re-chromed?  Mines rusty at the top/head ends but salvageablbe further down- I dont think its total bin-fodder yet -and Ive seen worse on Ebay for sale.

Most plating firms will not touch a used exhaust due to the deposits in them fouling their bath, I did hear a whisper somewhere that they may give it a go when the bath is due for a clean out, no doubt an expert will let us know more !

I looked at getting my pipes chromed in St Helens but the cost of getting it done with the cost of all the prep work needed before the platters would even put them in one of the platting tanks made a new set of pipes look like a better deal.

there are some who'll try it but not cheap, as has been said, it risks wrecking the contents of the chroming bath, I'd spray the effected areas in VHT paint and put up with the looks or fork out for new pipes
Got a 500/4 with rust and a sidecar and loadsa bits. nice and original and been round the clock
