Certainly if you can get a competent enlarged thread cut with a spigot to adapt,  then it would give you a good engineering solution to it.

The threads are only that bore size to flow oil through the bolt centre and not required to take much load in a conventional sense. Obviously to sucure the oil filter is a prerequisite but it would ordinarily be easier than the weld and remachine route.

all sorted tapped the filter in engine put new bolt in all seems ok no leaks when it was running so i,ll change oil and filter at week end and check again  ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D
