Boot plug for intake manifold
« on: May 05, 2021, 09:34:41 AM »
Hello everyone,

It seems like finding the usual boot plug for the intake manifold is nearly impossible unless someone is ready to wait for a month or two. What you guys are using to block the plug without risking a leak?

Thanks a lot
Tom

Hey everyone. As odd as it sounds it’s a CB550J3 with F1 carbs. Please find the photo below. Also my idling is hanging when hot for a few seconds. I don’t know if that’s linked. But I struggle to get it running smooth.

And those jubilee clips are too wide so will cause air leaks

Nicely spotted Brian, it’s hard to find the right jubilee clip size so feel free to send me a link. Thanks

Haha No problem Bryan, I found it. It’ll take a month to arrive though. Do you know the bandwidth of yours?
I found some 9mm (which is 3mm less than mine), is it narrow enough?
Also I found some cb550 inlet manifold in Germany for £40, worse the shot? I guess I’ll have to change the O-ring straight away. Find the links below. Cheers

O rings are same as tappet caps so readily available, if the rubbers are soft enough to use those are wrth a shot i will measure the clips i got seem to remember 8 or 9mm, you will need to cut off lots of extra when you put them on

@oddjob, jubilee clips ordered. A bit expensive but if that does the job I’ll be happy. Thanks for the tip.
