Hello - From Northamptonshire
« on: May 06, 2021, 03:07:44 PM »
Hey Everyone!

I have recently inherited a CB400F from my Father-in-Law which is approximately 80% complete. Now I'm just trying to figure out how to build the rest  :o

I am new to riding so will definitely be looking for a 'daily' rider also, but would love to finish this project off.

Welcome - you will enjoy rebuilding the bike - be prepared to spend some money as they are not overly cheap to sort out but definitely worth the effort - if you are young enough you might see it's value rise faster than inflation in a decade!

Thanks guys!

I'm not sure exactly about what daily I'm going to get, any suggestions which you can think of which would be ideal for a first daily?

Are you limited to a 125, or can you go A2 or bigger? Huge choices out there!

Welcome to the forum, by the way. 🔧🔩😎

I'm not restricted to any as I've passed my full licence recently. Just searching now for what would be good and reliable.

Honda CD 250 U as an unsung ultra reliable plain commuter bike.

We have the country's leading promoter of these as forum member too  ;D

If you want a modern bike for a daily ride and want to stay Honda have a look at the CB650. Otherwise try a Street Triple 675 or 765 or a Yam MT07 or MT09.

Got a tidy late 90's low mileage CB500S twin. in that garage I picked up to recommission.

They commuted with them and even had their own race series. Very usable bike.  Available if interested.
One day I'll have the time to restore it, not just talk and dream....
