« on: February 26, 2010, 11:37:02 AM »
Hi Everyone

My names Paul and I'm an alcho.............................oops sorry wrong forum!! ;D ;D

I'm Paul and getting a 1978 CB750F2. I've been around bikes for over 38 years now  :o I have a 1960 Matchless that's nearly finished.

I'll probably be on here babbling about technical queries as I go along.

Is there anything glaring that stands out that I should know!!

Welcome...the 750F2 seems to be an ever increasingly popular bike. I had one back in 1979 & loved it.

Hi Paul,There are plenty of F2 owners on here, me being one of them, they are great bikes , one problem is NOS spares for the engine are getting harder to find, and if yours hasn't been looked after you may find yourself needing some top end engine spares as they have a reputation for wearing out a bit quicker than the K models, lucky enough Dyno man cyclex and other American bike specialists are making the improved parts needed for rebuilding the engines, so we can keep these beautiful F2's running, dont be put off by the bad slating they get from the other forums , if they were as bad as some people make out then why are there so many 30+year old bikes still running.
All the service items and lots of good Honda spares are still available from Dave silvers and if you have lots of money cmsl have huge amounts of spares, as you are probably aware the F2 is the fastest best handling and braking of all the sohc models, and the last one to be made before going to DOHC.
Buy it and enjoy it, and post some pictures if you can
Pete

Thanks guys

I should be picking it up over the weekend so I'll sort the pics out then. I look forward to the anoraks taking it apart  ;D ;D

It hasn't been run much in the last year so it will be carb balancing and general checking Sunday afternoon.
