Need help sourcing base part of left side mirror?
« on: September 07, 2021, 05:35:29 PM »
Hey all

I can't find this part, where the side mirror screws into anywhere? My thread is completely stripped, so wanted to get a new part if possible. Anybody knows what it's called?

It can be helicoiled if the correct pitch is available

I think its m10 x1.5 from memory so easy enough to get helicoil that size if my memory is correct.
Got a 500/4 with rust and a sidecar and loadsa bits. nice and original and been round the clock

Thanks for the help! I think I will try and source and original part. Those extenders, helpful as they would be, are rather unsightly :) I really appreciate the help and links though!

Look at breaking point in Scotland, they had some switchgears for sale on Ebay in job lots, I picked up a few spares off there recently. I incidentally found I've had the 'wrong' swichgear on the left of my bike for years, keeping it though, the correct ones a bit more square and chunky looking than mine, which looks rather more like a mirror image of the 'correct' right switchgear. I did get offered a cb550 left switchgear via my mate the other day from a guy in Portsmouth I could find out more. He was picking up a top yoke for his cb350.

I have found several sellers on eBay selling this part, but they all state the part is for different models. Sometimes its for the K1. Othertimes the K2 og K3.

I have the CB550 F2 1978.

Did the switch signal switch for the CB550 change at all during all the models, or can I use one from the K1 on the F2?

K3 switch is for external wiring and not within bars. European models had a PA, but don't think US models had it.
Does the F wiring go to the box under tank (can't remember) in which case it will be longer?
