Please don't panic buy.
« on: September 24, 2021, 02:15:48 PM »
Just heard on the radio a government Johnny telling us not to panic buy fuel because the problem is just a tiny handful of petrol stations that have run out.
Five minutes later I drove past a petrol station with a line of cars waiting that stretched for about 500 yards. On passing the line I noted that about three quarters of the drivers were pensioners.
So soon the people that need a vehicle for work won't be able to get fuel whilst pensioners cars sit at home with full tanks.
I'm sorry but what a bunch of selfish me me me pigs.

It's the WW2 black market mentality at work - assuming that you didn't spot it was OAP giro day.

Yeah that figures...  :-\

Frankly, I too can't wait to retire, so I can get up at 6AM and drive around real slow to make everyone late for work...  :o

(I'm running HAVC service calls, and I'm on the edge with all those daytime leisure lock down zombies toddling around...  >:( )

Passed 3 fuel stations on my way home from work and theres over 20 cars queuing for fuel. My vans nearly empty but I’m not queuing, on a positive note the bikes are all fuelled up so it looks like a week on the bikes next week ;D

idiots should realise that panic buying CAUSES the shortages, not solves them. They also ought to realise how short hte shelf life of modern petrol is. You can;t keep the stuff for months without losing a lot of the volatile organics, and nowadays, thats most of it

It’s annoying because my car is virtually empty, but there’s no way I’m going to join a queue. Just have to pinch my wife’s car! … in the meantime I’m the one who is driving around at 20mph so I can be sure I’ll get home.

It's a shame so many petrol stations have closed, 40000 in the 60s, 18000 in the 90s and less than 9000 now and with far more vehicles on the road.

That's a good point. Our local 'independent' garage has just 2 pumps, petrol and diesel and a man comes out and fills the car for you. In Wainfleet, also not far from us, there is a petrol station that is that old, the pumps are still on the pavement and you just pull up by the curb and they come out and serve you. But, with both places, their fuel is usually at least 1p per litre cheaper than the big sellers.

Silly people, as soon as someone on the telly says "don't panic" they panic, I went past a local station this morning and cars were lined up in a queue to get in, the irony is that it was an Essar station and the Essar refinery is 5 miles away churning through 30,000 t/d of crude.

Cheers

Just got back from Cambridge the roads are manic. the trip should take me just over an hour today its taken just under three.
I'm so sick of idiotic people.

I have always hated people that only bung £10 in there cars and don't get me started on people that stop on the forcourt jump out and just buy coffee.
I only use the van for work and get through a tank every 3 days I don't need these selfish gits using it up.

I can't wait for the day they make an electric van that has a decent range.
