Repairing 500/550 Rear Hubs

Don't be in a rush at it takes time to find the correct piece of cast iron pipe to make the liner from and he can do it with the complete wheel, just take tyre off!

i remember someone saying a few years ago that the brake drum from a morris minor was a good choice for the cast iron ... close fitting once adapted

I used a rover mini drum in mine, perfect fit once subjected to the tender mercies of my lathe plus a freezer for the lining and oven for the hub.
Got a 500/4 with rust and a sidecar and loadsa bits. nice and original and been round the clock
