of course the seat needs a touch of fettling.

thinking of going mustard yellow like the primer but a gloss finish, or black cause everything is faster in black.

Have set aside 5mins for the wiring, surely this will be enough ?

That is coming along nicely...but i'd set aside a bit more time for the wiring though. It's simple enough to do so long as you have an endless supply of tea/coffee & don't get asked to come in for dinner/supper just as you get stuck in.

Wiring---3 mins max!!! might i suggest padded trousers and a brillo pad in the exhaust pipe to stop errant children climbing in

I do luv CB550 cafe racer styling.
My CB is all too standard to be converted to CR-styling.
-One day I'll find a CB550 cafe racer project for myself, meanwhile I'll admire the work of yours and others.
Engine casings look very tidy. The black & alloy engine & wheels look great.
Did you bead blast, & then paint?

What exhaust system is that?

wheels were done by central. full blast powdercoat of the rims and hubs and new stainless spokes.

exhaust is a Marvin number from italia sourced via sohc.net

If that an original Marvin the chrome will last about 10 mins, had 4 replacement sytems back in the 70's and eventually gave up had them hot alloy sprayed and used VHT Sperex.

As i remember the baffle, if you can call it that, was held on by a long cap screw that went top to bottom wiyh a nut welded onto the bottom

Does the Marving have any type of baffle in it? I'm thinking of getting one but I don't want to deafen my neighbours.

it does come with a baffle but i have chosen not to run it for the mo. Looks 10 times better than the motad and same (ish) price

It includes fibreglass packing, a baffle and all the mounts. nice bit of kit.

give me a shout when you have your bike done i am a regular user of the M11 going up to Huntingdon.

Thanks Jim,

I agree the Marving looks excellent. Unfortunately the coffers have been drained so my current plan is to weld up a collector for some old Motad headers and then experimentally fit one of the numerous old Harley silencers I've got lying around. It could end up looking really rubbish in which case I'll re-assess.

I'll defo give you a shout when it's done, although it may be a while!
