What's the trick for getting black plastic parts looking like new. Things like rear mudguard and airbox. They look much better after a good wash but return to looking dull when dry.

Heat carefully with a hot air gun, moving the gun around constancy to avoid melting,that helps a lot. Then polish with some silicone spray.

Not sure if I've ever used the Simoniz one Roy. We usually buy it for £1 for a 500 ml tin from Milton Keynes Market 😁😁😁

A wipe over with a cloth and ACF50 does the job for mine, repeated every couple of months.

Any oil will bring it back as will heat. The plastic is oil based and the top layer dries out. Heating brings the oil up to the surface as does adding oil on a cloth.

It isnt a polish which from my experience just shows up any surface marring or other defects, rather it is a actually a dye. You apply with a soft tissue and either leave on for a gloss finish or wipe off almost immediately for a matt finish.

It seems expensive but you only actually need a very small amount. It hasnt let me down on any black plastic part yet.
