Twin disc set up.

Does anyone have the parts for sale or can point me in the right direction to buy what I need for a twin disc set up on my CB 550 F2 , also regarding braided lines and M/C swop if deemed necessary.

Theres a really good thread posted by Bryan in Aladdins cave showing you the process in depth and the alterations you'll need to perform. Basically you'll need another caliper, disc and mounting hardware, modified speedo drive plate but with regard to your hoses, I'm getting my hoses made up to fit once I know what bars I'm gonna run but any decent hose manufacturer will make you a set. Such as Goodrich, Hell or you can make your own if you buy all the bits from one of the mentioned firms.

Ideally you'll need a master cylinder that is of a better capacity  to push the fluid into both lines with the  same pressure, some have used a honda Goldwing item as they look the same but I cant remember which model, mght be the GL1200 but cant be sure. Hondaman sell good alternatives as does a great deal of the after market suppliers but if your not fussed about looks, most modern-ish, M/C's will be sufficient but its all down to the piston size and there are better people on here to discuss that with as I'm not 100% 'bob on' with the theory as I havent got to the front end yet so havent done any homework on it I'm simply parts hoarding to hit the ground running when I get round to them.

Just had a quick look, go to aladdins cave and scroll down to 550. enlarge and look for

The black square one is wrong in parts, especially about the speedo drive. I know there is one i put up with pics of how to do speedo drive.

Should be fine and work well. It's largely preference as to what you use in the feel you're after.

These standard dimension mc will have increased travel but with less hand pressure needed to give braking when used with a twin setup. It'll feel more like a modern brake regarding the power it can give you in use.

The larger reservoir type (goldwing) has increased fluid capacity to get from one service interval to the next with the pad wear a goldwing would give. Largely in motorcycle systems now they don't do that with straight capacity, just more frequent checking of fluid level, usually with a clear pot to make it easy.

You will find that the std master cylinder works perfectly OK on a twin disc set-up.

That is what I have done when I did the twin disc set up for my CB750K2 and it works fine.

So if you have a good std one it might be worth using that first before replacing it?

You might find this link useful, though it is for the early K series some of the basic detail in what is required is similar.
