550 carbs 069A. Question about gaskets.
« on: April 27, 2022, 11:20:34 AM »
Hi all,, newbie with a question about my carbs.
My intro explains my current project.
Modified cb550(E), with 069A carbs. These have been modded by a PO, which includes the removal of choke butterflies (don't ask).
My main concern is  my leaky bowls,( there's a joke there somewhere).
Anyway, the gasket in question are house shaped,  BUT I think I've also read, or misread that the correct gasket is actually round.
Can somebody please correct me and tell me which ones are the correct ones.. any links etc would be appreciated. [ Guests cannot view attachments ]

I’m sure mine were round, I held them in place when refitting with a tiny, tiny amount of red rubber grease.

No gasket for the float bowls, it’s an oring seal. Nurse Julie stocks these. The coffin shaped tops are a gasket, but rarely need attention, if required You can make these yourself.

No choke butterflies,,,whoever did the mod, has also altered the carbs richer, upgraded to god knows what coils, but I've never seen a spark like it....little bit of throttle, a quick backfire, then starts on the button with no throttle.  Tickover set slightly higher than normal..its not perfect, but it works. I might revert her to normal carbs, but with the shotgun pipes and the open bell mouths, she runs , she revs, and sounds quite happy.
