Carb design on 400
« on: August 31, 2022, 09:44:31 PM »
Whilst restoring my spare set of carbs got me thinking (I know dangerous).
The long brass part that I call the emulsion tube had a series of holes down the sides what do they do?
I assume the fuel supply is restricted by the bottom orifice/jet plus the float level. Is it connected with atomisation perchance?

Yes, the emulsion tube is an atomiser.

Whatever you do Ted don't put 2 emulsion tubes together as one atomises and the next splits that atom, the resultant explosion has to be seen to be believed  :) :)
