Ignition timing.
« on: September 12, 2022, 09:25:22 PM »
Played about with the ignition timing a bit this afternoon and had interesting findings. I have a Dyna S ignition fitted to my 750 which I got with it but suspected it was a little off the mark. I started by setting using the static timing marks, then setting using advanced timing marks (which is recommended) this method required a bit of alteration from the static settings. Then the final check was with the strobe light and this also required me to adjust the advanced timing mark setting. So to sum up it just isn’t accurate enough to set the ignition without a strobe??

When I set up the Dyna D on my 400 the static timing was very close to the dynamic setting on 1/4 but 2/3 took some fiddling as the screws were almost off the sensor base. I got there after some fiddling. If I use the kickstart the engine is running on the first kick so got there in the end.
