New SOHC addition
« on: September 15, 2022, 05:45:18 PM »
I didn't ever think I'd buy a cruiser but there's just something about this bike that appeals to me. Spotted it on Dave Silver used bikes.

It was a runner in the states and it looks like it's been very well cared for. 59000 miles.

Taking delivery in a few weeks.

Wow, that's a change of direction.
Do we call it a twin single or double single. (OHC)?

I was very tempted by a Honda 1300 X4 at Stafford Show last year aside from an oil drip it looked a lot of bike for £3k.
Then I realised I parted with my XJ900 because it was too heavy!

Looks very tidy!

Phil

It's reputably a single overhead cam for both cylinders, along with hydraulic tappets, self adjusting camchain, shaft drive and CDI. Just change the oil and filters and it's good to go.

59K milage and tax free in 4 years. If I don't like it I'll sell it on, cost me £1850, which could be a bargain but we'll need to see it run first. If it runs ok I'm probably not going to do anything to it except ride it, if my lad passes his test I'll give it to him as a present.

Not sure I can imagine Ken with the necessary WWII German Soldier type crash hat with appropriate side transfers.

Think "Easy Rider" film 1969 you can't beat the look of a Chopper - it's a Macho thing.

It was primarily bought for my son. He's a sort of pretend Hells Angel, member of a pub bike club, has a nickname "Joker" badge on the front of a denim cutdown etc. However he has said it's not really his cup of tea and TBH it's not mine either, I just saw it and thought it looked really good, paint scheme suits it, it's got the retro bike look, it's got a black engine and I love black engines, it's got chrome and I love chrome. It doesn't tick all my boxes but it ticks enough that I'll give it a go and see if I like it, if not I'll move it on and most likely make a profit.

There’s something bizarrely cool about this bike Ken. I like it!
