Battery Cable Terminals
« on: September 27, 2022, 03:01:16 PM »
I hope I'm not losing the plot yet, but I've tried seemingly everywhere to obtain the right angled positive cable end for the 400. I want to retain this shape so as to keep the cable in its original location running down beside the battery.  Any help gratefully received. Mike.

I had to buy an old loom / positive lead, to get the correct flag connectors for my 400/4 after one snapped or wore out or something. Just unsoldered the old one and re soldered the replacement. I looked everywhere as well, couldn't find new replacements anywhere.

The battery terminals are not part of the wiring harness. Sorry - I used my existing battery leads.

Thanks for the tip, but unfortunately it has the wrong fitting. Thanks also to others who have helped.  I'm going to visit my local old fashioned workshop who seems to have a bottomless pit of odds and sods, and see if he has a piece of 2mm or 3mm copper from which I can cut out and drill a replacement. Regards, Mike.

Many thanks again everyone. After much scrolling through the internet, I have located a company that sells right angled flag battery terminals. Have taken the plunge and ordered a couple along with the isolating bonnets.  If they fit, then I will advise you of the name of the company along with a pic.  If they are no good, then I am going to study my copy of the Heath Robinson guide to inventing and manufacturing!  ( Have just found some nice little bits of brass strip in the bits box.)

Cable terminals arrived exactly 24 hours from ordering!  Hole for attaching to terminal post is 6.5mm. Perfect. Will try to attach photos!!

It's a bit late, but in case anyone else is looking, 400fourbits has another cable listed under Misc Parts as "JJ - 325 CENTRE STAND SPRING - SOLID & SERVICEABLE."

https://www.400fourbits.co.uk/#misc

It's certainly not a spring, so either the description or the photo is incorrect.

All were originally steel, brass plated. Must of refurbished hundreds of these for customers over the years  ;)
