Anything but black !
« on: October 06, 2022, 08:39:48 PM »
I'm planning to take the frame to the powder coater coater next week if all goes to plan.

I've been puting some thought into a personalised frame colour to contrast with the existing brown tank & panels.

I've come up with RAL 8011 Gloss Nut Brown - I'm thinking it's very retro I will be interested to hear what folk here think - I'm not a purist and in 2023 Signature Gold Rims might be added to the ensemble.

It's only an idea at the moment ..............................but so was my 400 blue frame.

I can see where you are going with this ...but isn't that a bit close to the brown tank colour. Would all just kind of 'brown out'.
I would go for a dark chocolate colour. Not black...the colour of a nice plain choccy bar. Would give a bit of contrast without being black.

It's also a subtle statement about the owner think "Nut"

Imagine Kens new bike in retro brown

PS Can't find a RAL code for Mother of Pearl

Ted, this 500 recently sold at auction near me.

https://www.easyliveauction.com/catalogue/lot/8bbecc7517e6bc6b3b4e18894cb0fec5/0af8d24542e81eb9357e7ef448a6646f/classic-vintage-motorbike-auction-at-haynes-internati-lot-22/?iFrameView=1

Whilst the paintwork was very badly done I actually quite liked the colour - it was metallic. (Standard colour??)
I was actually tempted to buy the bike but favoured retaining my wedding tackle!  :o

I feel similar about it as this, "bitter chocolate" I'd normally think of it when on a car.

As here when the light level takes it from virtually black through to bronze almost at the higher most points of light strike. Would go well with gold rims and original tank colours if that's the way you're going Ted.

That was a great buy for someone - even the chromework looks good.

Ted, they were lots of new parts on her and even paying for a full new exhaust and re-paint, it would still have been a good buy.

Check out this page Ted, in fact check out the whole site, the colours available from these people have to be seen to be believed.

https://www.prismaticpowders.com/shop/powder-coating-colors?color=pris_white&q=pearl

Pearl Bronze is interesting, if you click on details sometimes there are pics of parts that have been done. Maybe a gold frame to match the gold wheels, the choice of golds is awesome.

IndexTripleS does Prismatic powders, you need an approved applicator as they can be tricky to apply. They even do colours that change as they bake. Check out Illusion colours.

I don't understand the fees so is that either £2875 or £3000 with fees for buyer?
Still a good buy.

Ted, fees for bikes is 11% plus VAT ie VAT on the 11% So that bike would be £2716 total....
