Chain adjustment question
« on: October 30, 2022, 12:56:43 PM »
When I changed the swingarm I noticed the chain was quite slack so adjusted it on fitting the new swingarm.

Went for a run and came back - checked things over and noticed the chain was again slack - no problem I must have not tightedned everything ... so adjusted again ....

Now something made me spin the wheel and check the play at different points on the chain - and it varies from too tight / too loose / just right

Am I correct in thinking the chain probably wants changing due to stretch etc

If so any recommendations as to make / supplier

Thanks

Simon

sounds like it, sounds like you have some tight spots too. Change it, they're not dear. I got one from Mr silver  recently and I dont think it was more than £40.

Hi Simon sprockets are easy to change, if you can change a swing arm you can do front & rear sprockets make sure you buy ones with the same number of teeth.
No special tools need.

They'll do Simon, however probably cheaper to buy a kit off Ebay to suit. 34T rear sprocket, 17T front, 98 link chain, don't buy an oring chain, a good make like DID with a split link is fine, heavy duty is probably better.

I'll see if I can find one and post a link.

I looked on ebay as the front sprocket at DS is out of stock and I'm baffled ....

Is it this

Last link looks good.

Tsubaki is a decent chain, DID would be better but that can be subjective.

You'd need a chain splitter depending on how may links the chain has when it arrives, however with a split link you can just grind a pin off the chain and join it with the split link.

Tsubaki chains were the best I had.
