Honda grab rail?
« on: November 04, 2022, 09:48:39 PM »
I bought this grab rail sight unseen, described as "to fit Honda cb550f1". It fits on the mounting points on the bike but as you can see the upturn isn't tall enough and the indicator mounting holes are smaller.
Anyone know what its off? [ Guests cannot view attachments ]

Obviously not an American import (jap export). Probably a K model…just a guess.

Definitely not for an F1 or F2. It’s shape is very much like my ex 500 K2.

I think its from a 500 four or very early 550 from american version. Interestingly i have two almost identical ones, and they look the same at first glance, however the indicator mounting tabs are different sizes, i think it changed on the 550k1 when they went to the bigger indicators in USA. Incidently the UK spec F2 stems are really hard to find as they still used the older style smaller indicators while the US used the bigger items as did the k3. If you need pics to compare i can do so later.
Love the 500 and 550 have a 500 called Lazarus under restoration

Somebody cut the tubes that the rear bolt goes through?, shouldn't be a big nut and washers there.

You are correct BTW, the 550 grab rail has a much bigger kickup at the back, it's because of the shape of the seat.

I do have a NOS 550 Grab rail but I'm not sure if I'd ever sell it, depends on how my old one chromes up.
Kids in a the back seat cause accidents.
