400 four piston numbering
« on: November 25, 2022, 01:15:59 PM »
Hi Folks .
Just re building my CB 400 four super sport 1977 engine. Got to the point where I'm setting up the timing with the cam shaft and sprocket but not sure which side piston number one is. I think they are numbered 1-4 from the left when sat on the bike. Can't find anything in the Haynes manual that identifies the piston numbering. Any help or advice greatly appreciated.

You are correct. #1-4 from left to right when sitting on bike.

Yes you're right with #1 on left when sitting on it and #4 by the ignition system.
