That wiring diagram is wrong. Without blowing it up, i can see the black wire from the horn doesn't go to the front stop switch. The black from the horn is earth and connects to a green, which goes to ground on the frame  ;)

Ted there are a few differences between UK and other markets and years, you will need a UK specific wiring diagram as in the back of the original handbook. I find it easier to scan onto the computer and then you can enlarge it as required. One example is the horn wiring as Trigger mentioned, it is different on UK as we had a flash function on the horn button whereas the americans did not.
Love the 500 and 550 have a 500 called Lazarus under restoration

I had forgot about the wiring diagram in the back of the hand book Mick.
I see by the wiring diagram that was posted that, it has 3 wires coming from the starter motor  :o

You need to identify the model of your bike first. This includes the socalled 'area code'. Best way is to compare the engine- and framenumber of yours with those listed in the first 4 pages of the various parts lists. They are all here: http://www.honda4fun.com/materiale-documentazione-tecnica/parts-list/parts-list-cb500 Good news is: you only have to do it once.
The Owner's Manual I received in 1980 from Honda The Netherlands contained no less than four different wiring diagrams: US, UK, ED and GENERAL type. Mind you, it wasn't even the correct manual for my model which may have been 'grey imported'. The proper manual I finally got some 38 years later. This manual had also four different wiring diagrams. All eight are different.

Delta, non of it is original its all from various bike so what it is wont help.
I know its the later 500 loom and sub loom as it has spade connectors, cant remember which switchgear i fitted, they came from a big box of switches!
I know it charged ok and everything worked as i made a point of testing that after building it, probably the only K0 part is the frame and had i realised that i may have used a different one

Bryan, I replied to the thread here. Just a minute ago I've seen there's another thread that you have in mind. Wirings and diagrams can be a puzzle. I always wondered what the white/light blue and white/orange wiring is doing in the bucket of my headlight. Turns out the original loom on my model is also found on the CB550K2, a model not imported in Europe. Connection of these white/light blue and white/orange wires, meant for the US indicators which double as marker lights, never materialised on models destined for Europe, yet the wiring is there... That's how complicated it can get. What I've posted before, is a good starting point however. CMSNL has this feature, when logged in, to find out what other models your part was on. This can make it easier to find the right part secondhand.

There's a coloured one on this link.

http://manuals.sohc4.net/cb500/technical_reference/WD500C.pdf

Not checked it yet, as it's the USA version of our site it may be for the US version.

there is a 500 one  in this post.

http://forums.sohc4.net/index.php?topic=27333.0

Your K0 frame would have had round pin connector originally  if you decided to build as a K0 . K1 had square multi-pin connectors ...but you probably know this already
I'm building it as if it's a K1 so sticking with the later spade terminal wiring loom.
Thanks Bryan I did look on the Disc but was a bit miffed its in B&W. I've since printed it off and found the colour key!

Graham my 400 had a US left side switch so am familiar with the slight differences for horn etc - still worth you reminding  me so thanks.

Just ordered some bits & bobs from Kojaycat so I can fit a new PVC sleeve to the pilot light loom  - much easier to solder in bulb holders by splitting up the loom then putting it back together after testing.

…it's the USA version of our site…

That is so cool

I was on the US site (still am) from about 2001. The UK site was a pretty horrible old message board that I was also on - mostly to get in contact with other UK users. John Burrin (previous proprietor of SOHC.co.uk) wanted to retire so I took over in about 2007. He transferred the domain to me and I switched to the SMF software as I was familiar with it from sohc4.net.

Sorry for the hijack.

Interesting let's hope when you retire someone else will carry the torch to keep this site going.
I used to be a member of the Nissan &Maverick 4x4 owners club - like here they were a very helpful site - membership was £10 a year.
Sadly Facebook Groups led to the site losing a lot of its members reducing the site to a small core membership. I stayed a member after we parted with our Nissan for several years afterwards.

Thank you Steve for keeping this site going.
