This looked like a good buy ...early squared crankcase too.

Looked like a good buy .. didn't hang around for long .... one of your ex's James possibly?

Seller (Charlie) is a great guy to deal with. I bought my C110 off him a couple of months back. He also has his mezzanine floor full of racks of spare parts he sells in addition to bikes.

Tank seems to have been replaced for a later version as it's got the screw on petrol tap like the 550.

Exhausts seem to be a bit rusty in areas, all in all though a decent bike for the price. Why the yanks seem to like moving the ignition switch is odd.

When I picked up my C110 from him he was amazed it fitted into a Mitsubishi Colt without taking the wheels off  ;D. I chatted to him and he says he sold James May quite a few bikes over the years.
He was called in the 'Wheeler Dealers' last year to assess a CB750 they were 'trading up'. He said initially there was a crowd of the TV people gathered around it and he started to explain what it needed doing to it etc but  one by one they all drifted off ... and he was let alone ...  they never paid him for his time or even offered to pay for his fuel to go to where the bike was stored !

I like his site. Always has a small selection at reasonable prices.
Yes, not a bad price for an early 500. I wonder how early. It does look to have had a life with corrosion showing on bits that haven’t been refurbed/replaced. And being picky, as Ken says 550 tank. Wrong mirrors and did the 500 ever come with that speedo? Seat looks lower on the left than the right.
But my K0 came with the original air in the tyres. But even that did have the ignition moved and the tank lined. (Early US conspiracy theory.) aaaaaah.

Bl**dy hell .. I hope I never have to offer a bike up for sale on here  ;D ;D

My only real question on that bike would be ..has it had all of the shift gear mods done and countershaft needle roller bearing replaced, which Ash warned me about,
A tall ask I know but far more important than what type of fuel tap its got.

Hey TJ, according to some, if it's not 100% original it's not worth having. Petrol tap is clearly the wrong type, which means the tanks been changed. A major component like the tank is a big thing, if the engine had been changed to a 550 for instance that would detract from it's value. To get it back to standard would mean a new tank and they ain't that easy to find these days. I'm not knocking the bike, it's really nice and I'd be happy to own it, others though do comment on these little things, wait until a 750K0 comes up and watch them gather to pull it to bits.

It's also missing the small side panel transfers only the K0 got. Just saying.

Oh thought it was a speedo with RHS reset as fitted to some 450s I think. Couldn't make it out.

You are not wrong Bryan ... 450K0 had combined speedo/tacho like CB72 then the K1/K2 had plastic clocks like the CB250K0 ..then came a metal cased one without a trip on the K3 (non -angle drive like CB500K0 ....I have one of those too) then the final K6/K7 had a trip meter.
