The Hawker Hunter, beautiful. We had the last four of them in RAF service with us in Gibraltar back in the 1970s. During an amphibious exercise with the Navy we had one of them coming over us at mind you head level as we waded onto the beach, what fun!

When I was at Boscombe Down the Hunters from Yeovilton detached to us for a while so that their runway could be resurfaced. One came back from a sortie with a full emergency - his canopy had blown clean off at low level!
Must have been squeaky bum time when it went.

I visited the Norfolk and Suffolk airmuseum  this week - no picture 😞 - but they have a Hunter amongst lots of other cracking exhibits. Well worth a visit.

Lovely ride out today to Rutland Water, it was really quite hot and the water looked very tempting for a swim 😁😁😁Took the CD250u's and a stop off for lunch in Stamford.

Some really nice roads around there Julie. The back roads into Melton Mowbray are worth riding just to go and buy a pork pie or two 🙂

My brother did his RAF dog handling their I believe in around 1978.

It must have become Tri-service sooner than I thought then, it was only army and MOD police in my day!

After he left the RAF he worked at Hilton Depot as well as at Woodhouse Eaves as a Dog Handler. He's away at the moment so can't check with him. He was a civilian then
