Forgot the camera today
« on: July 06, 2010, 06:53:57 PM »
Got all tools in car and the mutts dishes, then set off  forgetting the camera and the medications i have to take......anyways   the engine is part stripped and out the frame,,, lucky me it had been bored 0.25 over so first time  cant have done many miles since a barrels still have cross hatching,  wnt to take clutch off and looks like bodger bill took it off.. casttelated nut has been taken off/on b either a chisel or pin punch...... but the upside is  it has brandy new clutch plates, springs.....  idiote even put the dished washer on the wrong way.  ie  outside clearly marked, was on  inside.  so   get a new castellated nut made up at my engineering comp i use, and a tool to properly undo and do up, they will be doing the billets for the rear arm and also the top mount with my trunnion design .so thinking of getting them to press brake the rivets down nice n tight for when i go back to workshop is to do some plateing  and mig welding on frame  so mig them up at same time........... also provisionaly procured another engine (seized) but i only need the bare crankcases barrels and head as a mock up for exhaust pipe bends n runs  also for the clearances for the billet parts for rear end.  the cases and crank off this one( the original engine) will be miked up by another local firm i use for re-bores n crank journal grinding  etc. then its off to newark where the crank will be ballanced with the rotor haveing the leading edge and trailing edge of crank webs  semi knife edged  then shot peened  will also have c/cases peened at same time, and by a stroke of luck 2 units away from this specialist 400-4 engineering company  is the exhaust place  so do it in a oner  they can have mock motor in frame  while  mine is getting  the treatment..  then will come  the expence as all new bearing throughout gaskets "0" rings   seals  and an uprated pump and a bit of head work with nice new ss valves and new guides...... but it is all comming along have sprayed carbs   satin black with white tops  but as its a double acrylic and is an hour between coats  and 24 b4 it is fully cured i cant take pics till  tommorow  but they looking nice at mo :)

Ok, here's pics of carbs 3 and 4 which have been done  still to clean 1 and 2 (later today)  there is no internals in the carbs  so will soak everything in oil  put back in each carb, throttle levers and carriage felt sealing wahers-nylon washers/spacers all ok  then lay them up till 1 and 2 done-- mount to supporting plate- then its off to my freindly engineering place  as i will be runing a different air filter  and the billet mounting plate for it will have to be machined to carbs---- dont plan on doing anything to the engine  at mo as its hurty fingers time after yesterday------ flayed some skin off my fingers with the steam cleaner -i was holding the oil pick up strainer to steam off the guaze  and it was whipped out my hand by pressure and before i could let go of trigger  off came the skin-so doing something nice n gentle for a few days.........well here's the pics..

All but finished,  just choke butterfly's to put back in-then pack away until new gasket sets arrive then soak em in oil and whack em in, the 2x5p,s are holding carb 4 choke spindle in as butterfly stops the spindle from comming out to far, if any one notices  :D
