Packing foam
« on: February 17, 2023, 12:56:19 AM »
Hi all, does anyone know where I can get this stuff from? It’s the sort of stuff they cut holes in for tools in roller cabs, yer know.
I can only find it at really expensive money and wondered if an if you lot knew of any going or know of a good outlet for it. I’m after some for packing up the battery  in the cradle. on the build and as it’s a lithium one it’s quite small.

Also, would anybody have a spare rubber boot thingy for going over connectors in the loom? I’ve not seen them for sale and saved the two I thought I had from old looms for this build. Sadly I’ve been visited by the little furry garage helpers who decided that it was far better to chew up than for me to stick in the new loom leaving me short of one for the front of the bike. It’s one of the bigger ones….

You can usually get seat foam in department stores...The Range and  Dunelm  sell it in their haberdashery deptartments.

Or these guys?

Yes, i didn't input any sizes to see that price  :-[

I keep all sort of foam pieces from packing etc, In case I may need it, drives someone in my household nuts  ;D but when you see prices it all adds up.

Phil (s), Ian et al, cheers all. That Alans electrics is the only place I've ever seen them for sale, a great link and one stashed for further use, nice one.
I managed to blag a good lumo from PC world so I'll have a go at chopping that up later on the bandsaw.

Thanks chaps for all the help

How about this for foam, I bought one this morning. The middle of it is black and looks very similar to what you’re after.

My crap spelling again, not sure what a lumo is!

Cheers Steve, I went over to the industrial estate yesterday and managed to blag a chunk from PCworld on recommendation from o E if the chaps on here. I’m going to start to trim it up this arvo on the bandsaw and see if I can get a tidy result.  Bloody good shout though, hadn’t thought of that!

FWIW: exactly the issue I went with NOCO for my ST1100 (+ the GF's NT700), they include solid, clip-on plastic spacers with their batteries...
https://no.co/brands/noco-lithium
Found them at decent prices (cheaper then the OEM YUASA) on Amazon...
