Yeah, engine last. I prefer to do it that way for some reason, avoids having the engine stood open to dust etc as the frames built up around it.

Got a bit of welding to organise, things like the webbing on the swinging arm, Honda left parts of the joint open and it's just a water trap and allows water to access the internal parts of the tubing, I want them to be seam welded to stop this, grease nipple point on the main stand, riders and passengers footrests need a blob welding on them until they sit straight, side stand wants straightening, can't get it hot enough to bend without Oxy.

Frame needs cleaning, sanding down and all the welds dressing, hate weld splatter that Honda just left on, then I'll fit things like footrest and seat and see if they hang straight and I can alter the frame to make sure they do before having it powder coated. Once it's back it should be almost built in a few weeks, just some parts still need chroming, still sanding all the pits out of the metal.

I'll figure out what I don't need then and sell most of my spares, might have a NOS CB500K1 seat for sale, a CB550F chain guard NOS, a CB550F grabrail NOS, and some of my newly restored and coated parts might also be for sale.

Which reminds me, I need to go and see my seat man so he can make me a new seat, going for a genuine leather seat cover made to match the chocolate block effect of the 500K1 pattern with an embroidered Honda logo on the back. Not sure yet what colour embroidery, might go for gold or maybe silver thread. Already got a price which was dear but will be worth it. If it turns out ok I may have another done the same with my spare seat pan and sell it on.

Oh and here's my CB1300 wheels finally done. Rims ceramic coated CG-Gold, ABS sensor ring ceramic coated BHK-1 black, new Galfer discs and new Michelin Road 6 tyres. Not sure if I want to block the tyre lettering in, might be a bit OTT.

Threw them away a long time ago Simon, never liked them, replaced with more modern looking ones capable of working twin discs.

These CB1300 gold wheels are lovely! Ted, did you have these rims coated or were they purchased coated?

The 400 Hubs are powder coated in a sort of chrome/Ally colour, rims are Gold Anodized Alloy from CWC.

I wanted the Hubs the same gold colour but they did not have a close match in powder coating options.

Actually Ted, I like the contract as well between the hub/spokes and rim.

I do like the final accidental outcome but then I'm biased -  I was worried they were a bit too bling but what the heck it has a bright blue frame as well.

Using a cb1300 one Phil, will be taking it off the 1300 shortly and replacing it with a radial mc to match the Brembo calipers which go on at the same time. The brake mc matches the clutch mc that was ceramic coated a few weeks ago.

Not sure yet which brake switch I’ll use but probably the original as I’ve already bought the braided lines.

Just picked up some more bits for the 500 and a few bits for my 1300.

I'll just show the 500 bits though. All the bits.

Rear number plate bracket, turned out rather well considering how it looked beforehand, not even sure I'll use this in the build as I have a chrome one as well I might fit instead. Gloss black

Top yoke and speedo/tacho plate, satin black. The top yoke was the only piece that needed redoing as it gassed off the first time and ruined the finish.

Seat lock bracket, had it redone after having to alter it a little to fit the seat lock better, another seat hinge bar, got 3 of these now. 1 will be for sale soon. Gloss black

A NOS CB550 L/H riders footrest that I bought, the paintwork was untidy even being new so I had it redone. Should look better. Might use this, might not. My old ones are not done yet, need a spot weld done on them to make the pegs sit perfectly flat. Gloss black

Set of CB500K exhaust hanger brackets, there's a before pic on my restoration thread showing just how bad these were. Gloss black

CB550F electrical bracket, satin black

That's it, turned out really well, very pleased, the satin is shinier than the normal place I have them done but it will do. 2 pieces not shown in close up was the starter motor body, it's the cylindrical tube top right. I had asked them to coat the inside of it as well but they gave it back like that. Should be ok though. The other piece was the bottom yoke, forgot to photo it
